Götaplatsen

The Götaplatsen is one of the most significant public places in Gothenburg at the southern end of the Kungsportsavenyn (German Königstorallee ). It was inaugurated in 1923 to commemorate the 300 anniversary of the city.

Around the Götaplatsen is the cultural center of Gothenburg: These include the Concert Hall ( home of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra ), the Art Museum, the Municipal Theatre and the library. In the center of the square there are the eight-meter high bronze statue and the fountain of the sea god Poseidon, which were created by Carl Milles.
