Göteborgs-Posten

Göteborgs-Posten (often abbreviated GP) is a liberal Swedish daily newspaper that is published in Gothenburg.

Göteborgs-Posten was founded in 1859 by DF Bonnier as a liberal newspaper. The newspaper changed in the following decades, several owners. 1926 acquired Harry Hjörne the newspaper and began a thorough modernization, were popularized in the language and content, while the price has been kept low. In the following decades, the circulation rose from 23,000 (1926 ) to 200,000 in the 1940s and over 300,000 in the 1970s. The success led to the competitors Ny Tid and Göteborgs Handels -och Sjöfartstidning finally had to leave the field in the 70s or 80s.

The current circulation is about 250,000 copies. Göteborgs-Posten is currently exploring for Dagens Nyheter the second largest quality newspaper in Sweden.
