Gothic (Unicode block)

The Unicode block Gothic ( Gothic, 10330 to 1034F ) contains the letters developed by Ulfilas for the Gothic translation of the New Testament in the fourth century Gothic script, which is based on the Greek alphabet, but also makes bonds among the Germanic runes.

This document should not be confused with the sometimes also as " gothic " (and especially into English as "Gothic" ) designated fracture, which is simply a special type of the Latin alphabet. Although Unicode contains some Fraktur letters in block capitals Similar symbols (U 212 D, U 210 C, U 2111, U 211 C and U 2128 ) as well as several other block in Mathematical alphanumeric symbols ( U 1 D504 to U 1 D537 ), however, these are intended solely for the mathematical use and should never be used otherwise.

If, however, in East Asian literature on the typography of " gothic " or "Gothic " is mentioned, it is therefore also not this scripture meant, but the sans serif set of the Latin alphabet.
