Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit, BWV 106
Martin Luther; Adam Reusner
God's time is the best time BWV 106, also known as Actus tragicus, is a church cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Formation
The work is one of the earliest Bach cantatas at all. She's probably in 1707 or 1708 in Mühlhausen as a funeral cantata, possibly on the occasion of the death of the mayor straightener or to the funeral of Bach's uncle Tobias Lämmerhirt (died August 10, 1707 in Erfurt).
Topic
The text consists of several Bible words of the Old and New Testaments, as well as individual stanzas old hymns of Martin Luther and Adam Reusner who take all of the finiteness and dying reference. Here, two parts can be distinguished clearly: The view shown in the first part of the Old Testament to the death theme, the second part of the vision of the New Testament opposite; the replacement of the old by the new federal government determined the symmetric structure of the cantata.
Construction
Occupation
- Soprano, alto, tenor, bass
- Instrumental Ensemble from 2 recorders, 2 violas da gamba and basso continuo
In the cantata, a choir is not specifically required. Remarkable, however, for the Instrumentation discussion are the two bass solo passages, the first of which deep, whilst the second is extremely high.
Special
The cantata of the creation-date probably only 22 - year-old composer is one of his most important works. Inspired by Bible text piece has a great depth and intensity. Alfred Dürr called the cantata in his book The cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach with their texts as " a genius work, as well as great masters rarely succeed ."
