Geography
Geographical Location
God's cell is in the region Danube - forest in the heart of the Bavarian Forest, nestled into the upper Teisnachtal between the forested mountains Hirschenstein ( 1,095 m), Vogelsang ( 1022 m), Three Tannenriegel ( 1,092 m) and Einödriegel ( 1,121 m). The City of God Zell is almost exactly in the middle between the cities Viechtach, Deggendorf and the county town of rain ( every 16 km), which are accessible via the main roads 11 and 85. In addition, God cell has its own railway station of the Bavarian Forest railway with trains every hour to Plattling and Bavarian Eisenstein.

History
God cell can look back on a long time as a monastic site. The monastery was founded in 1286 under the name of God cell Cella Dei. Also worth seeing is the Asam - church of St. Anna with the famous Asamgemälde by Cosmas Damian Asam, as well as the uniquely beautiful location Calvary with the Stations of the Cross and the Lourdes Chapel, who are still living witnesses from the monastic period.
1999, designed by Prof. Günther Kaunzinger four-manual organ by Thomas Jann ( Alkofen ) was built. Since that time, regular " concerts by international artists " project, which attracted even many famous organists in God's cell.

Mayor since 1996, Max Meindl (CSU ). He was re-elected on 2 March 2008 with 60.77 % of votes.

Between September and November 2010 was filmed a very hot number in God's cell, a comedy film directed by Markus Goller, the Late Bloomers and the British social comedy comes close to the level of production in Switzerland All or nothing. Economy and infrastructure
Traffic
Just outside the resort is located in the neighboring municipality Zachenberg of God cell station on the railway platform Ling - Zwiesel - Bavarian Eisenstein. It is operated by the hour. Here it has to the private railway Regentalbahn AG Viechtach, the ancestral home of the Company since 1928 connection. This railway line ran until 1991 on to Blaibach where she had connection to the railway line to Cham.
