Gottfried Gabriel Bredow

Gottfried Gabriel Bredow ( born December 14, 1773 in Berlin, † September 5, 1814 in Breslau) was a German school principals and teachers.

Life

Bredow was born the son of a master tailor from a humble background, but could study hall theology and philology, despite its origin at the university. His above-average intelligence helped him after completing his studies at an early career advancement. Already in 1794, with only twenty years old, he was admitted to the faculty of the high school to the Grey Monastery in Berlin.

Only two years later, he was invited by Johann Heinrich Voß to the Eutiner Taught school where he taught, among others, religion, history, geography, mathematics, natural history and beyond Voss supported as headmaster in his duties. According to Voss ' retirement Bredow was appointed to the post of Headmaster, a position he held from 1802 to 1804.

Bredow 1804 was appointed professor of history at the University of Helmstedt. As Helmstedt in 1809 became part of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Bredow preferring to go to the University of Frankfurt an der Oder. However, this university was moved in 1811 to Breslau.

Bredow moved to Breslau, where he received a professorship but instead the office of supreme leader and supervisor of all schools of learning of the district of Wroclaw. About this task Bredow was very pleased, but died shortly after his move to the consequences of an illness.
