After humanistic gymnasium, private music studies (piano, violin, organ) and first attempts at composition to study music in Braunschweig ( State School of Music, Department of Church Music ), Detmold (North West German Academy of Music, composition, piano, analysis, acoustics) and Cologne ( Academy of Music, Institute followed for musically - technical design ).
From 1954 to 1964 he was a staff member in the Studio for Electronic Music of NWDR (later WDR) in Cologne and worked with Karlheinz Stockhausen and many other domestic and foreign composers.
