Gottfried von der Goltz

Count Gottfried von der Goltz ( born June 1, 1964 in Würzburg ) is a German - Norwegian violinist and conductor. He is the brother of Kristin von der Goltz.

After early years of apprenticeship with his father, Conrad von der Goltz and Ramy Shevelov in Hanover, he continued his education at New York's Juilliard School and with Rainer Kussmaul in Freiburg im Breisgau.

At age 21, he became a member of the NDR Symphony Orchestra. He then moved on as musical director and concertmaster of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. From 1997 to 2004 he was professor of Baroque violin at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg. On 1 October 2004, he has accepted the offer of a professorship for violin / baroque violin at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg.
