Gotthelf Greiner

Johann Gotthelf Greiner ( born February 22, 1732 in Alsbach, † August 12 1797 in Limbach) was glassmakers, co-inventor of porcelain and founder of the porcelain factory in Thuringia. He came from a long-established Thuringian glass -making family and was a descendant of the famous as " Swabians Hans " Hans Greiner.

Life's work

Johann Gotthelf Greiner invented together with his cousin and brother-in later Johann Gottfried Greiner and the Coburg master potter Johann Georg Dümmler, independent of the performance Johann Friedrich Böttger and Ehrenfried Walther von Tschirnhaus in Meissen, and in a somewhat modified chemical composition of the porcelain. After years of research, they succeeded in early August 1761 to produce bone china with a satisfactory glaze.
