Gottleuba Dam

The dam Gottleuba supplies drinking water in the room Pirna, flood protection and in rather small degree of power generation.

First thoughts and plans for damming the river, "God Leuba ," in what was then Oelsengrund existed since the mid- 1950s. The dam was built in 1965-1974 near Bad Gottleuba in the Eastern Ore Mountains (commissioning in 1974, completion 1976).

The dam of the dam Gottleuba is a straight gravity dam made ​​of concrete. It is on the level of Absperrbauwerkes above the lowest point of the foundation bed, the highest dam in Saxony before the dam yew floor.

Above the dam there is a lookout point from which you can overlook the lake. The dam itself is not open to the public. Bathing and recreational sports in the reservoir is also not possible because it is a drinking water reservoir, but walking around the reservoir is possible.

The dam has a pre-dam at the inlet of God Leuba Oelsengrund, which is a concrete gravity dam and also has a 50 m wide overflow in the wall center.
