Gottlieb Conrad Christian Storr

Gottlieb Conrad Christian Storr (* June 16, 1749 in Stuttgart, † February 27, 1821 in Tübingen ) is written, Gottlieb Conrad Christian Storr, was a German chemist and naturalist.

Life

After his 1768 abschlossenen studies at the University of Tübingen Storr was appointed to the Faculty of Medicine Selbiger University professor of chemistry and botany in 1774. In the following years, he wrote various writings on natural history and medical issues, including about the reproduction of his 1781 journey undertaken Alps in the Swiss Alps. Due to health problems Storr joined in 1801 by his professorship back.

Services

In 1780, he arranged for the first time to the raccoon a separate genus named Procyon, which both can be translated mean "before the dog " and " dog -like". Storr could also have the star Procyon selected as the namesake of the genus due to the nocturnal lifestyle of the raccoon but.
