The Gottschalkenberg is a partially forested hills up to 1,186 m above sea level. M. train in Canton, Switzerland. It is located in the south-eastern corner of the community Menzingen, above the Aegerisee. It forms the southwestern continuation of the Höhronen - ridge.

A farm and an inn of the same name is on a saddle below the summit. A narrow street of Oberägeri to Menzingen leads close to the summit over ( vertex 1'162 m).

History

The Gottschalkenberg was like the majority of Menzingen originally owned by the monastery of Einsiedeln. Cultivators of homesteads and farmsteads were vassals of the monastery. Over time they were able to purchase their homestead and were of tenants to owners. In the land register of the monastery of Einsiedeln, a Jacob Gottschalk is mentioned to Finstersee "uf em Bergli " for the year 1528 550 owners of farms in the Zug region, thus naming the first time was tangible.

The area around the Gottschalkenberg is a recreational and hiking area. It offers many wooded areas and trails, in winter ski slopes and cross country trails. Popular is the viewpoint Bellevue on the Gottschalkenberg. Mountain bikers especially like cruise the area of rates.
