Götzenstein

The stone idol from the southwest behind the valley section of the Kallstädter Bach with Löhrbach

The idol stone is a 521.9 meter high forested mountain in the district Löhrbach in southern Hessen Odenwald, about 1.6 km north- west of Abtsteinach.

In the area of the summit there is a group of natural boulders of granodiorite that have received their forms by Wollsackverwitterung. It is protected as a natural monument. Since the summit area appears to be artificially flattened, is here, according to a notice board, a place of worship have been found in Celtic or Germanic times. Archaeological finds dating the flattening or could confirm the interpretation as a place of worship, however, are not known.
