Gouaix
Gouaix is a commune with 1446 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Seine- et- Marne in the Île- de -France region; it belongs to Arrondissement Provins Canton and Bray- sur -Seine. The inhabitants call themselves Gouaillons.
History
Gouaix is first handed in documents in the 12th century. The basic rule was in possession of the archbishopric of Sens. Over the centuries there were frequent changes of ownership in the fortified village, which lived from viticulture to the 19th century.
