Gouden Strop

With the Gouden Strop (translated: Golden knitting, Golden sling ), the most important Dutch prize for crime fiction, since 1986 the best written in the Dutch language crime novel is distinguished by the Genootschap van Nederlandstalige Misdaadauteurs ( GNM ). The price is currently doped ( 12/2013 ) € 10,000.

The GNM was founded with playing a leading role of the journalist and writer Tomas Ross ( pseudonym for WP Hogendoorn ). In German-speaking all the with the price of novels are not published. Eponym for the price is the novel Gouden Strop the Dutchman Joop van den Broek. In English-speaking countries is called the price Golden Noose, the GNM is there referred to as The Dutch and Flemish Crime Writers Association.

In addition to the Schaduwprijs for the best debut novel, the GNM awards in recognition of long years of meritorious effort to the Dutch-language crime fiction and the GNM Meesterprijs, analogous to the Grand Master Award in the U.S. or the Cartier Diamond Dagger in England.
