Gould (crater)

Gould is an impact crater in the southwest of the moon in front of the north of the plane of the Mare Nubium, northeast of the crater Bullialdus (crater ) and north-east of Nicollet.

The crater is largely flooded by lavas of Mare, leaving only a remnant of the western crater rim is really visible from the rest of the course of the crater rim traces are still visible.

From the south-eastern edge of a chain of smaller craters runs in a southwesterly direction to zuzm secondary craters Gould B.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the American astronomer Benjamin Apthorp Gould.
