Ginnie Mae is the popular name in the United States or a quasi- acronym for the Government National Mortgage Association ( GNMA ).

The main task of unlike Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, Ginnie Mae, the government-owned provision of cheap credit for home buyers and home builders.

Ginnie Mae was created in 1968 from parts of the then privatized Fannie Mae. Ginnie Mae was then state-owned ( "Government -Owned Enterprise "), while Fannie Mae was the government sponsored enterprise.
