Governor's Palace of Mogadishu

The Palazzo del Governatore (Italian for governor's palace ) was the seat of the Italian governor of the colony of Italian Somaliland and the office of the Administrator of the Italian Somalia, as the representative of Corso Principe Umberto II.

In it, among other things, the following halls were:

  • Arab hall with decorations that were derived from the Islamic architecture of the old Mogadishu
  • Room of Queen Elena with tapestries
  • Sala della Giustizia with furniture in the Gothic style - Aosta Valley
  • Hall of discussion, with the representations from the style of the former and with a panel of San Giorgio

On the second floor there were the private apartments and accommodation for guests of the royal family in the style of '400 Piedmont. Is the Palace of the Tra Muzaffar ( Arabic governor of Mogadishu ), which fell by the excavations of Cesare Maria De Vecchi to the public between the castle and the Indian Ocean.

The building of the former palace are located since the fall of the regime of Siad Barre in 1992 in a very ruinous state.
