Goychay District
Göyçay, also Goychay, is a rayon in Azerbaijan. Capital of the district is the city Göyçay.
Geography
The rayon has an area of 736 km ². The region is located in the center of Azerbaijan in the steppe of Shirvan. In the north there are foothills of the Greater Caucasus, the south plane. The country is crossed by Upper Shirvan canal.
Population
The rayon had 2009 108.800 inhabitants. These are distributed across the capital and 55 other locations.
Economy
The region is dominated by agriculture. It is cotton, grain, wine and fruit grown and operated livestock. Furthermore, bred silkworms. Significant also is the cultivation of pomegranates.
