GPRS Core Network#Gateway GPRS Support Node .28GGSN.29

A GPRS Support Node ( GSN ) is in the switching network of a mobile operator an element that is an essential part of the GPRS infrastructure. A GSN is either a SGSN ( Serving GPRS Support Node ) or a GGSN (Gateway GPRS Support Node).

GSN to communicate with each other via IP connections ( Gn interface ). As the transport protocol of the GPRS Tunnelling Protocol ( GTP) is used.

For the purpose of authentication, authorization, and accounting of client relationships GSN communicate with others with the MSC and the VLR (Gs - interface), the HLR (Gr - interface), the SMS -SC (Gd interface) and the EIR (Gf - interface ) of a wireless service provider.

SGSN ( Serving GPRS Support Node )

An SGSN is connected via frame relay or IP with one or more Packet Control Unit ( PCU) (Gb interface), representing the connection elements for the GERAN. Via the Gn interface to be connected to a GGSN. SGSN provide the basic functionality of packet-oriented data transfer in GSM network dar.

USGSN (UMTS Serving GPRS Support Node )

A USGSN connected by ATM or IP with one or more radio network controller (RNC ) ( IUDs interface), which constitute the connecting members to the UTRAN. Via the Gn interface to be connected to a GGSN. USGSN provide the basic functionality of packet-oriented data switching in the UMTS network dar.

GGSN (Gateway GPRS Support Node)

A GGSN provides the transition from the GPRS network to a PDN ( Public Data Network or Packet Data Network) dar. this he communicates via the Gn interface with one or more SGSN and over the Gi interface to a packet- oriented network such as the the Internet or an ATM network.
