GPSBabel is a free software to convert several different GPS data formats.

Properties

In the field of GPS navigation and the generation of GPS data tracks there are manufacturer requires a wide variety of data formats. In general, the GPS devices from different manufacturers produce GPS data ( tracks, routes and waypoints) in proprietary formats. As the name suggests ( Babylonian confusion of tongues ), GPSBabel is lossless as possible conversion from a GPS format to another. This GPSBabel supports now several dozen plain text and binary formats and protocols for direct reading and writing of a connected GPS device. GPSBabel also provides a set of filter functions that can be used in the conversion. Examples are functions to simplify routes or deleting points with insufficient accuracy. Important supported formats are GPS Exchange Format, many Garmin and Magellan formats and protocols, Keyhole Markup Language, Use of DeLorme, several POI formats, and many others.
