Gracie Allen

Gracie Allen ( born July 26, 1895 in San Francisco, California, USA as Grace Ethel Cecile Rosalie Allen, † August 27 1964 in Hollywood ) was an American actress.

Life and career

After training as a secretary, she was persuaded by a friend in New Jersey to try as an actress. In 1922 she completed her first appearances at the Hill Street Theatre in Newark, New Jersey, where he met the actor George Burns know. The two married on 7 January 1926.

Together turned Gracie Allen and George Burns 1929-1942 a total of 25 were comedies and 1950-1958 Stars own sketch show entitled " The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show." They also moderated 1934-1950 a successful radio show.

Gracie Allen and George Burns adopted two children. My adopted son, Ronnie Burns was seen in some of the films of the couple.

Gracie Allen died on 27 August 1964 of a heart attack.

  • Gracie Allen was also by her nickname " Googie ", which her husband had given her known.
  • For a long time the exact date of birth of the actress not known since her birth certificate was destroyed in the great earthquake in California in 1906. On her death certificate was registered in 1902 as her date of birth. Only in 1972 was known through the publication of a census from 1900, that she was born in 1895.
