Gracilis muscle

The gracilis muscle (Latin for " lean muscle ") is a near-surface skeletal muscle of the thigh and one of his adductors.

Function

The scope of the gracilis muscle spans two joints: the hip joint and the knee joint. In the hip joint, he flexes the thigh and pulls him to the middle of the body ( adduction), the knee he bends the leg and rotates it to the inside ( medial).

In the four-footed mammals it is principally a adductor, partially he also acts as extensors of the knee joint. For animals for slaughter the muscle is part of the upper shell.

Surgically shoulder muscle used for the secondary stabilizing obsolete acromioclavicular explosions, which have not been supplied primarily.
