Grady County (Oklahoma)

Grady County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Chickasha.

Geography

The County is located southwest of the geographic center of Oklahoma and has an area of ​​2863 square kilometers, of which 11 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Canadian County, McClain County, Garvin County, Stephens County, Comanche County and Caddo County.

History

Grady County was formed on July 16, 1907 from parts of Pontotoc County, Caddo County, Comanche County and the defunct Pickens County. It was named for Henry W. Grady, a lawyer and author of the Atlanta Constitution. He was also named lawyer of the new South.
