History

Traces show the first settlement during the Neolithic period around 3,500 BC. Around 500 BC, settled on the boundary of the site the Celts. Grafenberg in 1246 documented in a letter from the parish priest to Pope Innocent IV was first mentioned.

The place belonged first to the upper office Nürtingen and then to 1973 the district Nürtingen. After its dissolution in the course of district reform Grafenberg did not come to the district of Esslingen, but for the district of Reutlingen as single municipality.

In Grafenberg itself there is a pure primary school. The secondary school students attend primary and secondary school with Werkrealschule in Großbettlingen. Realschule and Gymnasium are visited mainly in Metzingen. Grafenberg has three kindergartens.
