Grammelot

The grammelot or Grummelot refers to a type of language game, which is used in plays in the satirical context. Grammelot characterized by fictional, onomatopoeic or makkaronische scraps. Grammelot is usually presented with exaggerated facial expressions and gestures or contrasts with pantomime.

The origin of the grammelot allegedly goes back to the Italian Commedia dell'Arte, where it was used in harlequin -esque passages and should emphasize the exalted, not expressible in words character of people in this comedy.

More recently, grammelot among others, the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature Dario Fo ( Mistero Buffo ) and Charlie Chaplin ( Anton Hynkel in The Great Dictator ) and used by Gianni Ferrario. Grammelot bonds are also found in many comics again.
