Grammichele

Gram Michele is a city in the Province of Catania in the Italian region Sicily, with 12,984 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Gram Michele is 68 km southwest of Catania. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture.

The town has a station on the railway line Lentini Diramazione - Caltagirone - Gela.

The neighboring municipalities are Caltagirone, Licodia Euboea and Mineo.

History

The place comes from the Greek sikulisch - time. In the 1693 earthquake, the city was destroyed and then rebuilt.
