Gran Ega

Gader at Pederoa

The Gader ( Ladin Ghaidra or Gran Ega - " Big Water ", Italian Gadera ), with a length of 34.7 km and a catchment area of approximately 390 km ², the largest left-side tributary of the Rienz in South Tyrol ( Italy). It flows through the Val Badia. The Gader opens in St. Lorenzen in the Rienz. Most important tributaries of the Gader are the Saint Kassianer Bach ( Ladin rue de San Ćiascian ), the Caprice Bach ( rue de Ćiampló ), the Vigil Bach ( beet d' Al Plan ), the Pisciadùbach ( rue de Pisciadù ), the Camp Iller-Stream ( beet de Lungiarü ) and the Untermoibach ( rue de Antermëia ). Most important places in the Gader are Corvara, St. Martin in Thurn (San Martin de Tor ) and intermediate water, a little haven of Enneberg ( mareo ).

Somewhat confusing is the different stream names. The inflow beet Tort (German Brunnenbach ) rises south of Corvara. The rue de Pisciadù springs from the Sella massif. In star ( Ladin La Ila ) Kassianer the creek flows to, but also carries other Ladin name. On some maps it is called Gaderbach, which then entspränge in the Fanes. From star of the creek then called once and forever Gaderbach.

According to the South Tyrolean linguist Lois Craffonara the name of the creek is due to a quadratic settlement of the late Roman period or the early Middle Ages in St. Martin, the Latin word Quadra. This name became the name of the entire valley with the corresponding stream.
