Granada is one of the 21 districts of Peru, from which the province of Chachapoyas in the Amazonas region exists.

Geography

Granada is located in the high mountains in the Andes. Only parts of the district are accessible by roads, the majority can only be reached on foot or by mule. The district Granada is the northeastern boundary of the province of Chachapoyas.

In the north, bordering the district of Granada to the district Olleros, on the east by the San Martín region, the district of Vista Alegre and the district Mariscal Benavides, in the southeast to the district of San Nicolás, to the southwest by the province of Chachapoyas and the district Quinjalca.

Height

The whole district of Granada is located in the high mountains, the district capital is located at an altitude of 3013 m above sea level

Tourism

In addition to the annually celebrated on 23 to 30 June Dorffest particularly the ruins of Granada, as well as the Río Imaza are quite attractive. The latter is ideal for trout fishing.
