Grand'Anse Praslin

Grand Anse Praslin (alternative spelling Grand ' Anse ) is one of the 25 administrative districts of the Seychelles. It is the southern of the two districts on Praslin and is 14 square kilometers in area of the smaller but more densely populated.

Etymology

The district is located in the south by the Great Bay (French: Grande Anse ) named. Since the language of the country of Seychelles is a French -based creole language, and was written down for only two decades, varied the spelling of the district, and the main settlement of the same name. The official coat of arms of the district is the designation Grand Anse Praslin. The addition Praslin is necessary because it also is on Mahé a district called Grand Anse. There are eight bays with this name in the Seychelles.

Geography

The district includes also located in the southwestern islands of Cousin and Cousine.

Economy and infrastructure

The most important economic factor of the district is tourism, however, takes place to a lesser extent than in the neighboring district of Baie Sainte Anne. In Grand Anse, there are mostly small hotels, but with the Lémuria one of the most luxurious in the Seychelles. There is also the only 18 -hole golf course in the country to which can be flown in from other islands by helicopter player. To the northwest is the airfield of the island of Praslin, held to Mahé from which multiple daily flights.

Attractions

With the jungle Vallée de Mai, one of two World Natural Heritage sites of Seychelles, the county has a major tourist attraction of the first rank, which he shares with the other island district Baie Sainte Anne. The Anse Georgette in the northwest is a so-called dream beach, as well as the Petite Anse Kerlan. The latter is, however, restricted to enter via the Lemuria Resort. A popular tourist destination is the Ocean Farm, the only oyster farm in the Indian Ocean, where the so-called Tahitian pearls are cultivated.
