Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich of Russia

Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich (Russian Александр Михайлович Романов, Scientific transliteration Aleksandr Romanov Michajlovič; * 1 Apriljul / April 13 1866greg in Tbilisi, Georgia, .. † February 26, 1933 in Roquebrune, France) was a Russian Grand Duke and Admiral.

Life

He was the fifth child of Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolayevich, the fourth son of Tsar Nicholas I and the Grand Duchess Olga Feodorovna, born Princess Cecilia of Baden- Hochberg, daughter of Grand Duke Karl Leopold of Baden- Hochberg. He grew up with five brothers and one sister in Tbilisi, where his father resided as Governor General of Transcaucasia. He went to school there, was created with the Georgian name Sandro.

He later joined the Navy.

In World War I he organized the army air forces, after the October Revolution, he emigrated on a British ship to Paris, where he participated as a representative of the Romanovs at the Peace Conference of 1919. There also appeared his biography book of memories, which is an important historical source for the royal family.
