Grand Duke Michael Pavlovich of Russia (Russian: Михаил Павлович, scientific transliteration Mikhail Pavlovich ); (* 28 Januarjul / February 8 1798greg in Saint Petersburg, .. .. † 28 Augustjul / September 9 1849greg in Warsaw ) was a member of the House of Romanov -Holstein -Gottorp.

Life

Michael was the youngest of ten children of the Russian Tsar Paul I and his second wife Princess Sophie Dorothee of Württemberg.

On February 19, 1824 he married his cousin in St Petersburg ( second degree ) Princess Charlotte of Württemberg, called Helena Pavlovna, eldest daughter of Prince Paul of Württemberg and his wife Charlotte of Saxe- Hildburghausen. The built in 1819-1825, designed by Carlo Rossi Mikhailovsky Palace in Saint Petersburg was built for the Grand Duke. Today it houses the Russian Museum.

His only surviving child it was Grand Duchess Catherine Mikhailovna.
