Grand Portage is a non- organized territory ( " unorganized territory" ) in Cook County ( Minnesota) with 557 inhabitants. It covers the area of the Grand Portage Indian Reservation.

Geography

Grand Portage is located in the extreme northeastern Minnesota on Lake Superior and on the border with Canada. The nearest major cities are south-west of Duluth and the north located in Canada Thunder Bay. According to the United States Census Bureau, the land area of ​​the region is 192.2 square kilometers.

The Minnesota State Route 61 is the only national transport connection.

The Grand Portage National Monument is a memorial to the history of the indigenous peoples and fur traders.
