Buffalo Stance by Neneh Cherry is a song from 1988, written by herself along with her future husband Cameron McVey, Ramacon and Morgan. Production was orchestrated by Tim Simenon and Mark Saunders. It appeared in the album Raw Like Sushi.

History

An earlier version of the song was already published in 1986 on the B - side for the single Looking Good Diving Duo Morgan - McVey, which consisted of Jamie Morgan, Cameron McVey. The song of the A-side titled Looking Good Diving With The Wild Bunch was sung by Cherry and produced by the British production team Stock Aitken Waterman. Cherry was seen playing guitar in the accompanying music video.

The title of the song Buffalo Stance refers to a group of photographers, models, musicians, hairdressers and makeup artists, etc. called Buffalo. This group was founded by stylist Ray Petri. Cherry, Morgan and McVey were members of the group. The song is about is posing like a photo shoot for a London fashion magazine in the 1980s. The title of the song is also a reference to Malcolm McLaren's Buffalo Gals song that is sampled in Buffalo Stance.

In the song, elements of electronic music mixed with hip hop.

The publication of Buffalo Stance was held in November 1988. The song meant for Cherry 's international breakthrough; in the United States of Electro Hop tracks reached # 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 3 in the UK. In the American Dance and Club charts the title was a number -one hit, as in the Netherlands and Sweden.

The song later appeared in a radio station in the game Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. Also in the film Slaves of New York by James Ivory, the song was used.

Cherry publish their hit numerous remixes and revised versions, so it is still a popular club classics. 2010 became the Kuduro version of the Portuguese- Angolan band Buraka Som Sistema in Europe renewed popularity.
