Grandaddy

Grandaddy is a rock band from Modesto, California, United States.

The band was founded ( bass ) and Aaron Burtch ( drummer ) 1992 by Jason Lytle ( singer, guitarist, keyboardist ), Kevin Garcia. 1995 were added guitarist Jim Fairchild and keyboardist Tim Dryden. From 1992 to 1997, the band 3 albums and a live album brought out, but all were recorded by the band themselves and sold on tape only in small numbers.

The turning point came in 1997 with their first studio album Under The Western Freeway, which was published by Will Records and distributed by V2 Records. The plate was praised by critics, Pitchfork Media described it as the new kings of lo-fi.

The musical style of the band based on the use of both guitars in the indie rock style and the keyboards in a minimalist style reminiscent of Philip Glass. The lyrics are mostly on the topic of " isolation in a high-tech world," often from the perspective of rural America. This combination gives the most full beard occurring band members quite easy Geek image.

The title "AM 180 " can be heard in the soundtrack of the horror film 28 Days Later.
