Granny Takes a Trip

Granny Takes a Trip was a boutique in London that opened Nigel Waymouth (later of Hapshash and the Coloured Coat), his girlfriend Sheila Cohen and John Pearse in February 1966 in the King's Road 488. The store was regarded as the "first psychedelic boutique in the Swinging London of the 1960s " (first psychedelic boutique in "Swinging London " in the 1960s ). In 1969 Freddie Hornik the store and opened branches in New York and Los Angeles. The stores closed in the 1970s and 1980s.

Granny Takes a Trip is also the name of a song by British rock band The Purple Gang from the year 1967. The song is named after the boutique.

Granny Takes a Trip was repeatedly used as a brand name, without having a direct reference to the original London boutique.
