Grant County (Kentucky)

Grant County is a county located in the state of Kentucky in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Williamstown, which was named after William Arnold, who donated the land for the city. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in the north of Kentucky, is in the northwest about 10 km from Indiana, in the northeast about 25 miles from Ohio and has an area of 675 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Boone County, Kenton County, Pendleton County, Harrison County, Scott County, Owen County and Gallatin County.

History

Grant County was formed on February 12, 1820 from parts of Pendleton County. It was named after Colonel John Grant.

According to the census in 2000, lived in Grant County 22,384 people in 8,175 households and 6,221 families. The population density was 33 people per square kilometer.
