Grant County (Washington)
Grant County is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington, United States. It has 74 698 inhabitants. The the county seat ( county seat ) is located in Ephrata.
Geography
The county has an area of 7229 km ²; of which 285 km ² (3.95 percent) of water.
History
The Grant County was formed on February 24, 1909 from parts of Douglas County. It was named after Ulysses S. Grant, the commander of the Union armies in the American Civil War and 18th President of the United States.

According to the census of 2000, there were 74 698 people in the county. There were 25 204 households, and 18,676 families. The population density was 11 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 76.54 % White, 0.99 % African American, 1.16 % Native American, 0.87 % Asian, 0.07 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 17.36% from other races groups; 3.01% were descended from two or more races. 30.09 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 25 204 households out of which 39.90 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 59.30 % were married couples living together, 9.80% had a female householder with no husband. 25.90% were non-families. 21.20 % of all households were individuals and 8.90 % had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.92 and the average family size was 3.38 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 32.00 % under the age of 18, 9.80 % from 18 to 24, 27.00% from 25 to 44 years, 19.70% between 45 and 64 years and 11.50% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 104.50 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.40 males.
The median income for a household was $ 35,276, and the median income for a family was $ 38,938. Males have a median income of $ 32,414, women $ 24,310. The per capita income was $ 15,037. 17.40 % of the population and 13.10% of families are below the poverty line. 22.30 % of those under age 18 and 9.40% were 65 years or older.
