Grant Lee Buffalo

Grant Lee Buffalo is a rock band from Los Angeles. It consists of Grant -Lee Phillips (vocals and guitar), Paul Kimble (bass ) and Joey Peters (drums). All three were previously members of another band from Los Angeles, Shiva Burlesque. As GLB, they released four albums: Fuzzy ( 1993), Mighty Joe Moon (1994 ), Copperopolis (1996) and Jubilee ( 1998 without Kimble, who had a year earlier left the band ). Following the publication of Jubilee, the band broke up, Phillips pursued a successful solo career since then. Storm Hymnal was published in 2001, a compilation of singles, album tracks and rarities. In 2012 she played again, including on the Haldern Pop Festival.

Grant Lee Buffalo had an Americana -like sound that was clearly influenced by musicians such as Neil Young and elements from country music. In their texts they frequently touched political and social issues ( for example, " Lone Star Song " from Mighty Joe Moon refers to the infamous Waco Siege ). They were with band sizes of the early to mid 1990s on tour, like REM, Pearl Jam and the Smashing Pumpkins.
