Grant McCune

Grant McCune ( born March 27, 1943 in Los Angeles, California, † December 27, 2010 in Hidden Hills, California ) was an American, Academy Award-winning, film technician who specializes in visual effects.

Life

In the 1960s, McCune studied biology at the California State University, Northridge. His career in film began in 1974 when he created an artificial shark for Steven Spielberg's Jaws. Later, he produced more models, such as ships for Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

For his first film, Star Wars, in which he also has a short Comeo appearance, he won an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.

Overall McCune produced visual effects for more than thirty films. He founded his own company Grant McCune Design, which was working on films such as Speed ​​and Batman Forever.

McCune died 27 December 2010 in a pancreatic cancer. He left behind a wife and two children.
