Gravamen
Gravamen (Latin: oppressive burden; plural: Gravamina ) is a term used in the Middle Ages and refers to:
- A complaint or charge against the Church and clergy or feudal lords. Known primarily grievances of the German nation
- An objection to statements of a religious confession
- To be furnished by the subjects delivery to the feudal lords and the Church
- General impairment or stress on the subjects
- In civil litigation the more contentious part of the claim sued for the amount.
