Gravenhurst (Band)

Gravenhurst is a British band from Bristol, whose music is a mixture of rock, folk and electronic elements.

His first pieces wrote frontman Nick Talbot in 1997. His project The Assembly Communications, he finished in 2000 after the death of a band mate. Shortly thereafter he founded his own label Silent Age Records and released in 2002 under the name of Gravenhurst be produced even single-handedly debut album Internal Travels.

Gravenhurst were eventually contracted in 2004 by the British electronica record label Warp Records. The re-release of the second album Flashlight Seasons had the reputation of the group rise abruptly as Warp Records was previously known mainly for electronic music. Despite good reviews, the album sold only moderately.

Since the release of the third album Fires in Distant Buildings, the Group is supported in live performances by Huw Cooksley.

The soundtrack of the getting on in cinemas in October 2006 film A friend of mine by Sebastian Schipper ( with Daniel Brühl and Jürgen Vogel) is mainly based on the music of Gravenhurst.
