Great-Basin-Nationalpark

The Great Basin National Park [ ˌ greɪt beɪsən ] lies to the east of Nevada near the Utah border in White Pine County. The name comes from the desert of the Great Basin ( Engl Great Basin ), which forms an endorheic basin between the Sierra Nevada to the west and the Rocky Mountains to the east.

The park is known for the occurrence of long-lived pine ( Pinus longaeva ) are known which is the oldest known living organisms ( see, for example: Prometheus ); also for the Lehman Caves, a limestone cave at the foot of Wheeler peak.
