At the Olympic Games in 2012, also in London, Great Britain finished 4th.

For all other tournaments - among others the World Championships, European Championships and Commonwealth Games, countries compete separately: England, Scotland and Wales. Ireland (Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland) has a joint team.

History

1908 - the first and until 1920 the only Olympic hockey tournament - came at four British teams: England won gold in the final against Ireland and there is no small final was played in Scotland and Wales both won a bronze medal. All four medals are attributed by the IOC UK.

In 1920 the team was founded as "Britain and Ireland " and played the second Olympic tournament in Antwerp. The four associations remained to exist and have independent members of the World Hockey Association FIH. Following the partition of Ireland remained until today a joint team for the entire island.
