Great Glen Way

The Great Glen Way is a trekking or cycling trail through the Scottish Highlands. It runs parallel to the Caledonian Canal between Fort William and Inverness, along the lakes Loch Linnhe, Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and Loch Ness. However, the largest lake, Loch Ness, you get only partially visible as the trail runs here and there on the other side of a ridge. The Great Glen Way can be walked in either direction, but it is recommended to start in Fort William and the road towards the north -east to go, since you thus wind and the sun has usually in the back. In addition, you begins with the easiest section and so can get used to the rising challenges.

The trail was officially opened on 30 April 2002 by Andrew Mountbatten -Windsor, Duke of York and runs over a length of 117 km.

The route can be walked easily with trekking luggage in about 5 to 7 days. Use very light cargo such as when using a resident of luggage transportation company, we can handle the way with good stamina in 3 to 4 days.
