Great Portland Street tube station

Great Portland Street is an underground station of the London Underground in the urban district of City of Westminster. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 1, at the junction of Euston Road and Great Portland Street. Here trains to the Circle Line, Hammersmith & City Line and Metropolitan Line. In 2011, 7.17 million passengers used the station. About 200 meters further west the station is Regent's Park, the Bakerloo Line, but there is no direct connection to it.

The station is part of the oldest subway line in the world between Paddington and Farringdon. It was opened on January 10, 1863 by the Metropolitan Railway ( predecessor company of the Metropolitan Line). During several decades it was first called Portland Road and received on March 1, 1917 its present name Great Portland Street.

Points of interest include Regent 's Park and the BT Tower, once the tallest building in London.
