Great Teacher Onizuka

Great Teacher Onizuka (Japaneseグレート· ·ティーチャーオニヅカgurēto Ticha onizuka ), also known by the acronym GTO, is a completed manga series of the Japanese signatory Tōru Fujisawa, which was also implemented as an anime series and a so-called drama.

Genesis

Great Teacher Onizuka is the continuation of Tōru Fujisawa manga series Shonan Jun'ai Gumi! , Which appeared in 31 anthologies from 1991 to 1996. The series tells the story of the youth of the motorcycle Eikichi Onizuka Rockers.

Action

Eikichi Onizuka, 22 years old, has no fixed job. He is also a former leader of a motorcycle and rocker gear and only has a degree from the " third-rate " Eurasia University, and in a country in which the name of the university is almost more important than grades or study.

Initially driven only by the idea that as a teacher he had a secure items just earned salary and the chance to be able to ranmachen even as an old man nor young girl, he decides to become a teacher. Soon Onizuka recognize, however, that he the young people who he is supposed to teach, is closer to than to teachers, which he himself once did not particularly like. Thereupon Onizuka decides to want to be not only a better teacher, he wants to be equal to the best part: The Great Teacher Onizuka, the legendary teacher of all time.

During a two-week training period, however, Onizuka has to realize that the coolest can not live in peace if he is not accepted. After an attempt at blackmail his pupil is Onizuka takes revenge on something unusual way. On the assumption that this was the premature end for his career, however, he recognizes that his quite unorthodox methods and ideas bear fruit from teaching in a certain way.

To continue to work as a teacher, is Onizuka would undergo a state teaching certificate. The firm belief that he would not need this, quickly followed by disillusionment. It only remained to apply it is to a teaching job at a private school. While Onizuka not qualified for a job interview at the renowned Seirin Institute, as he has previously exposed the senior teacher; he gets due to a strange incident, the desired job but still.

Onizukas real task is to bring a better mood in the largest class of problems at school. Gradually, he conquered the class that feels deep hatred of all teachers because of a previous incident. But in addition to his problems with the students, he still has to deal with various other difficulties.

Manga

Great Teacher Onizuka appeared in Japan from February 1997 to the end of 2001 in separate chapters in the manga magazine Shōnen Magazine of the Kodansha publishing house. These individual chapters were combined in 25 anthologies.

Since June 2009, the Shōnen Magazine published a spin-off entitled " GTO: Shonan 14 Days", which builds on the Teshigawara incident.

In the German series of Egmont Manga and Anime of July 2002 was published in full by June 2006.

Furthermore GTO appears in France, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Thailand, Indonesia and the United States.

Anime

Based on the manga series, Studio Pierrot produced a 43- episode anime series that aired on 30 June 1999 to 24 September 2000 to the Japanese television station Fuji TV.

Until the band 14, the anime keeps relatively close to the manga template, but then the anime caught up with the template so that a separate end was created for the anime.

The anime series has been released in Germany Complete on DVD at Anime Virtual. The 10 DVDs contain the original soundtrack in Japanese, as well as subtitles in German, French, Dutch and Polish. There are 2 Collector's boxes, each with a slipcase for Vol.1 -5 and Vol.6 -10 are included supplied T -shirt appeared.

Live Action

From 7 July 1998 to September 22 1998 Fuji TV beamed from a GTO live action series with twelve episodes of 45 minutes each. The main characters Onizuka and Azusa were represented by Takashi Sorimachi and Nanako Matsushima, directed by Masayuki Suzuki. To customize the theme to the television series format, the plot has been partially changed dramatically. The last episode of the series had the highest ever viewing figures of a series finale on Japanese television.

On August 28, 1999, a further TV special was broadcast in the same occupation.

In 1999, a 140 -minute GTO feature film in Japanese theaters, again with Takashi Sorimachi as Onizuka.

In addition, a remake in Japan was published in 2012.

Awards

The manga won the 1998 Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category.
