Greater Kokstad Local Municipality

Greater Kokstad ( engl. Greater Kokstad Local Municipality ) is a municipality in the district Sisonke, Province of KwaZulu -Natal in South Africa. The administrative center is Kokstad. Mbulelo Sithole is the mayor. The ANC represents the majority in the City Council.

The municipality and town are named after the Griqua leader Adam Kok III, who in 1863 lived here. In 2001, the population was 34,736 in a total area of 2,680 square kilometers.

The main towns in the municipality are Kokstad, Franklin, Swartberg and Bhongweni.
