Greater St. Louis
The Greater St. Louis metropolitan region is the region around the city of St. Louis in Missouri. This region extends on both sides of the Mississippi River, which forms the border between Missouri and Illinois. Located in Illinois eastern part of the region is called the Metro - East.
The entire region was in the census 2000 2.828.990 inhabitants, this number increased in the 2010 census in slightly to 2,830,355 in the " Metropolitan Census Area " (MSA), the Combined Statistical Area (CSA ), the number rose to 2,878 .255 to.

Geography
The Greater St. Louis region lies on both sides of the Mississippi, opens into the north of the center of the city of St. Louis Missouri. The region covers an area of 22,910 km ².

Rail transport
