Greek and Coptic

The Unicode block Greek and Coptic (English Greek and Coptic, U 0370 to U 03 FF) contains the information necessary for monotonic Greek characters as well, which go beyond the letter of the Greek alphabet Coptic alphabet. The sorting of the Greek letter is based on ISO 8859-7.

The characters for polytonic Greek Unicode block are in Greek, additive ( 1F00 - 1FFF ), and from the classical Greek alphabet different, typical Coptic letter forms of the Greek or Coptic alphabet can be found in the Unicode block Coptic ( 2C80 - 2CFF ).

The German letter names derive mostly of Coptic grammar of Walter C. Till (Leipzig in 1961, quoted by Michael Neuhold ).
